Kangaroo River Water Sharing Plan

The Kangaroo River water sharing plan was due for replacement in 2014. The plan was extended until the commencement of the respective replacement plan, or until 1 July 2016, whichever occurs first. During the replacement process the Kangaroo River Water Source was re-established as the Kangaroo River Management Zone within the Shoalhaven River Water Source. The Kangaroo River Extraction Management Unit was merged into the Shoalhaven River Extraction Management Unit.

The water sharing rules for the Kangaroo River Management Zone were incorporated into the Water Sharing Plan for the Greater Metropolitan Region Unregulated River Water Sources, resulting in a single plan covering all water sources and management zones.  Proposed changes to the water sharing rules for the Kangaroo River were placed on public exhibition in February and March 2016.

All submissions were considered before finalising amendments to the rules.
For more information on the key water sharing rules refer to the Kangaroo River Management Zone rule summary sheet below.
