Water sharing plan
The Water Sharing Plan for the Greater Metropolitan Region Unregulated River Water Sources is a detailed legal instrument written in its required statutory format.
The Greater Metropolitan Region Unregulated River Water Sources plan was made on 2 March 2011 and commenced on 1 July 2011.
This water sharing plan is due for extension/replacement in July 2021.
In 2014, when the Kangaroo River Water Sharing Plan is due for remake, a merger with this plan is proposed which would result in a single water sharing plan covering the unregulated water sources in the catchment.
The draft plan was on public exhibition from 7 June to 30 July 2010. Community consultation included public information sessions in the Shoalhaven/Illawarra, Hawkesbury-Nepean and Metro Sydney areas. All submissions were considered in the finalisation of the statutory plan which will be in place for ten years.
